Monique Cassells

Monique Cassells became an Elvis Presley fan in 1985, at the age of 8. Although she began singing when she was 3, and was often involved in school choirs and plays featuring musical performances, her singing began in earnest when Elvis became an all-consuming passion when she was 11 years old. She started playing guitar at the age of 13, as she wanted to be like Elvis. Even though she has been influenced by numerous great bands and musicians over the years, Elvis has always remained her number one influence, and she enjoys performing his music more than that of any other artist.

Monique made her public performing debut at the age of 17. She was a member of the band, Generations, for two years, as their front person, principal lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and thereafter joined Cole Street in the same capacity. Monique is a dynamic vocalist and performer, and is able to perform a variety of musical styles, including pop, rock ‘n roll, rock, country, blues and ballads. It was always Monique’s aim to be as versatile as her hero Elvis, and although she can never compare with the great man, by her own admission, she has indeed been able to master the musical styles mentioned above. She can also be as mellow as she is powerful. She has a strong sense of rhythm and shows this in her acoustic guitar accompaniment. She is known for being able to involve her audience in her performances, and encourages audience participation
